About Us
Galeria JAN was established in 1986 in Sarajevo, Bosnia by Biljana Grcic-Beran. After several rough years, in 1990, the gallery was successful enough to open another location in Sarajevo and a third in 1991. Biljana opened a fourth location in Belgrade the same year. When the war broke out in Yugoslavia, Biljana was forced to shut down all of her four galleries and move to Opatia, Croatia with her family. There she took over Galeria Zoom and worked in that space until she migrated to the United States in 1994. In 1996, Galeria JAN was reopened in La Jolla, California, with large group of European artists contributing to its collection. The gallery represents world renowned living artists, and old European masters. Galeria JAN's collection is located in both La Jolla and in Europe.
