Joze Ciuha was born in Slovenia in 1924, and currently resides in Paris, France. Ciuha is a world-renowned artist with extensive international recognition, and has been awarded many important international prizes. These awards include: the Grand prix at the international graphic biennale at Seoul, first prize at the Mediterranean biennale in Alexandria, as well as prizes at biennale in Krakow and Ljubljana, decorated as "Chevalier des art et letters" by the French minister of culture and "Golden Medal for Artistic Promotion" by the president of Austria.
In 2004, Ciuha was made a Permanent Member of Russian Academy of Art. Ciuha's artwork is presented at many prestigious exhibitions all over the world, displaying together with artists such as: Chillida, Tapies, Rauchenberg, Warhol, Ucker, Hundertwasser, Rotella, Dorazio, Sam Francis, Arp, Tobey, Miro, Kokoschka, and more.
